I learned today that simple pictures of the sky with a polarizing filter can make some very remarkable photographs; they don’t need much in the post-op department either. Too bad I didn’t have any subjects for these awesome backdrops…

Came up with this picture at the last minute; which is good because I really didn’t want to do another self-portrait. I picked this mask up in Peru back in 2002 or 2003. The black background is courtesy of a black piece of poster board while the light coming from the eye’s and mouth is due to a candle with a custom-trimmed piece of white paper for the light to bounce off of. Not 100% what I wanted, but close.
I was going to go with the self portrait today, but I had snapped a couple of my beautiful wife as she was lounging around in her scrubs so they made it today instead of me. I’ve been meaning to get some good pictures of her on here but she’s usually so tired after work that pictures aren’t a concern. That, and due to my unemployment, we just haven’t been anywhere for a suitable back drop…
Just a tree silhouette shot take from my back door just before loosing all the daylight. I’ve really been wanting to get outside for some photo shots lately but the sky has been so bland. Even tonight it was just neutral gray clouds. For this picture I simply put on a PL filter and steadied the camera for the long exposure. I was hoping for something a tad more crisp but I was rushed due to it being really cold…

I used Ligthroom & Photoshop for the import but very little was done to the picture. I upped the black and contrast just a smidgen to make the smaller branches a little more visible and manually moved the temp a notch to correct the blue color from what the blacking over did.
It’s a simple photo, but I’m pleased!

The white knight crystal piece from a chess board that I purchased in Mexico a few years ago. Illuminated from the bottom through the glass chess board that game with it. Boring day today… barely came up with this idea for a shoot in the late hours of the day.
Shoot details: Canon EOS Digitial Rebel XT, f/25, 2 sec exposure, ISO-200, Sigma 28-70mm lens, no flash, piece illuminated from bottom with Surefire tactical LED weapon light.
